Accounts writing and bookkeeping
Accurate books of account, maintained month by month, so that financial statements, tax returns, GST filings and bank submissions all rest on clean records. Year-end finalisation should be a review, not a reconstruction.
Scope
What the work covers
Good books are the base for everything else. When accounts are written up only at year end, GST and TDS mismatches surface late, bank balances do not agree, and the tax return is prepared under deadline pressure. A monthly routine avoids all of this.
Bookkeeping is done in the client's own software wherever possible, so the business keeps ownership of its records and can see its position at any time.
- Monthly bookkeeping in Tally Prime, Zoho Books, QuickBooks Online and similar software
- Bank, cash, vendor and customer ledger reconciliations
- GST and TDS entries maintained so that returns agree with the books
- Books of account for professionals, traders, landlords and small businesses
- Books for individual traders in shares and derivatives, where business income is reported
- Finalisation of accounts and year-end schedules
- Records organised for audit, tax filing and bank renewals
Approach
How the work is done
Set the routine
A monthly calendar fixes when documents are shared, when entries are posted and when reconciliations are completed.
Collect and post
Invoices, bank statements and other documents are shared through a shared folder or email, and entries are posted with supporting references.
Reconcile
Bank accounts, GST, TDS and major ledgers are reconciled every month, and open items are listed for follow-up.
Report
A short monthly summary shows the profit, cash and receivables position, and year-end schedules are built up through the year.
Getting started
Records to keep ready
- Bank statements for all accounts
- Sales and purchase invoices, expense bills and receipts
- Loan statements, investment statements and payroll records
- Access to the accounting software, or the previous year's data

Questions about accounts writing and bookkeeping
Which accounting software do you work with?
Work is done in Tally Prime, Zoho Books, QuickBooks Online and other common systems. Where a business has no software yet, the choice is based on its size, GST needs and whether remote access matters.
Do small businesses and professionals need to maintain books of account?
Many businesses and professionals are required by tax law to maintain books once their income or turnover crosses specified limits, and audited accounts are required above higher thresholds. Even below those limits, proper books make GST, tax filing and bank loans much simpler.
Can bookkeeping be done remotely?
Yes. Documents can be shared through a shared drive or email, and cloud accounting software allows the books to be maintained without visits. Clients near Borivali can also drop off documents at the office by appointment.
How often should books be updated?
Monthly is the practical minimum for businesses registered under GST, because GST returns and TDS payments are monthly. Businesses with high transaction volumes benefit from weekly updates.
