Income tax services under the Income-tax Act

Income tax work for individuals, professionals, HUFs, firms and companies: returns, planning, TDS compliance, reconciliation with the department's data, and representation when notices arrive. Handled from Borivali West, Mumbai, and remotely across India and abroad.

Scope

What the work covers

Income tax is governed by its own law, now the Income-tax Act, 2025 from 1 April 2026, and its own portal, deadlines and procedures, separate from GST. A good return starts long before the filing date: with the right regime choice, advance tax paid on time, TDS credits that agree with Form 26AS, and income that agrees with the Annual Information Statement.

The practice handles both routine compliance and the questions that need more thought, such as capital gains on property and shares, income from abroad, business income for professionals and traders, and replies to notices.

  • Income tax returns for salaried individuals, pensioners, professionals, traders, HUFs, partnership firms, LLPs and companies
  • Choice between the old and new tax regimes, and year-round tax planning
  • Capital gains on property, shares, mutual funds and ESOPs, including exemptions on reinvestment
  • Advance tax estimates and reminders for the June, September, December and March instalments
  • TDS and TCS compliance for businesses: deduction, deposit, quarterly statements, certificates and corrections
  • AIS and Form 26AS reconciliation before filing, and AIS feedback
  • Replies to notices, intimations and defective return communications, and representation in assessments
  • Updated returns where income was omitted, and rectification of processing errors
  • Tax audit where applicable

Approach

How the work is done

Collect and check

Form 16, bank and broker statements, AIS and Form 26AS are collected and checked against each other before any figure goes into the return.

Compute and compare

Income is computed under both regimes where the choice is available, and the better position is explained in plain terms.

File and track

The return is filed and verified, and its processing is followed until the intimation is received and any refund is credited.

Respond when needed

Notices are answered point by point with a reconciliation and documents, within the time allowed.

Getting started

Records to keep ready

  • PAN, Aadhaar and income tax portal login
  • Form 16 and Form 16A, and salary slips where needed
  • Bank statements and interest certificates, broker and mutual fund statements
  • Purchase and sale documents for any property sold during the year
  • Investment and payment proofs for deductions, if the old regime is chosen
  • Books of account and financial statements, for business and professional income

Background

The practice combines chartered accountant review with its own reconciliation tooling, so AIS, Form 26AS and books are matched in full before a return is filed, which is where most notices are prevented. See experience and expertise.

Fees

Fees depend on the scope of work, the volume and condition of records and the time required, and are confirmed in writing in an engagement letter before work begins.

Questions about income tax services

Which ITR form should I file?

It depends on the sources of income. Salaried individuals with simple income usually file ITR-1 or ITR-2; those with business or professional income file ITR-3, or ITR-4 under presumptive taxation; firms and LLPs file ITR-5; and companies file ITR-6. Capital gains, foreign assets or more than one house property also affect the choice.

Should I choose the old or the new tax regime?

The new regime has lower rates but allows few deductions; the old regime has higher rates but allows deductions such as for investments, insurance, home loan interest and rent. The better choice depends on your income and deductions, and should be compared each year.

What is the due date for filing my income tax return?

For FY 2025-26, the due date is 31 July 2026 for most individuals without business income, 31 August 2026 for business and professional taxpayers not subject to audit, and 21 November 2026 for audit cases (extended from 31 October by CBDT; the tax audit report is due 21 October 2026). See the compliance calendar for current dates.

I received an income tax notice. What should I do?

Read which section and year it relates to and the response date, then reconcile the items it raises with your records. Many notices arise from AIS mismatches and can be answered with a clear reconciliation. Do not ignore the deadline; an extension can be requested if more time is genuinely needed.
