Goregaon

Work for clients in Goregaon

Goregaon is home to a large community of film, television and media professionals around Film City and the studios of Goregaon East, as well as the offices and exhibition venues near the Western Express Highway. Freelancers and production businesses here face particular questions: whether to opt for presumptive taxation, how GST applies to their services, TDS deducted by production houses, and how to treat payments received from abroad.

Engagements are handled directly by the principal, supported by articled assistants. See all services and the compliance calendar for upcoming due dates.

Questions from clients in Goregaon

Is there a chartered accountant near Goregaon?

Vaz & Associates is in Borivali West and works with clients in Goregaon, mostly remotely. Call +91 95384 16161 or email ryan@vazassociates.in to discuss your requirement.

Should a freelancer opt for presumptive taxation?

Eligible professionals can declare income at a prescribed percentage of gross receipts instead of maintaining full books, subject to conditions and limits. Whether it is beneficial depends on actual expenses, receipts and other income, so it is worth comparing both options each year.

Do freelancers working for foreign clients need to charge GST?

Services supplied to clients outside India can qualify as export of services, which is zero-rated under GST if conditions are met, including receipt of payment in foreign exchange. Registered suppliers usually export under a Letter of Undertaking (LUT) without paying IGST.

Can TDS deducted by production houses be claimed back?

TDS deducted on professional fees is credited against your tax liability when it appears in Form 26AS. If the total TDS is more than the tax payable, the excess is refunded after the return is processed.
